My Story And Vision

Hello friend! 

Whether you landed on this page for your small business, family, or wedding, I am so glad you are here! Building a relationship with you is one of the most important things to me! I believe knowing a little bit of my story will help with that! Can you tell I really like exclamation points? It’s a problem. One I have not quite figured out how to control!

If you are new around here my name is Michel. It's a mixture of Michael and Michelle but is pronounced MiKel :). I am a mother to three sweet and sometimes crazy kids whom I absolutely adore! I’ve been married since 2013 to my husband Jim who is truly my best friend, I know that sounds cliche but it’s true! I’m thankful to do life with him through the good and the hard!

I have loved capturing moments since I was 8 on the Fujifilm camera I bought with my own money from doing odds and ends. I loved taking my rolls of film in and getting to see what came out. The anticipation was one of the best parts. As I got older and point and shoots became popular, I asked for one for Christmas when I was thirteen. I would take my sister to the mall to model outfits so I could put the photographs in a homemade magazine.

However, I truly honed my skills in college while studying photojournalism at MSU of Denver. There, I learned what a story was and how to seek, find, and frame the moment and the emotion in a creative and impactful way.

Below are the three areas I am currently focusing on.

When it comes to Small Businesses, I am eager to find all the ways to tell the story of your business. From creative details of products to the beautiful moments of service, while you share your craft with the world. I want to encapsulate you pouring the most beautiful latte, making the perfect pizza crust, executing the best pilates instructions to the most satisfying massage and facial. Showing your audience the offerings you have for them beautifully is my goal. I strive to highlight the moments and products that are important to you in a way that is consistent with your brand.

When it comes to Family Sessions, I adore the moment your child runs and jumps into your arms or nuzzles into you. I want to capture the genuine, sweet, spontaneous moments along with the posed. Telling the story of your precious family as they enter this world with a newborn session, followed by their first birthday, or by documenting a new year for your holiday card, Senior photos and beyond, is such a joy!

When it comes to Weddings, I adore being there with you on your day. It is such an honor to come alongside my couples in such intimate moments of their day to tell this part of their story through the images captured! I love photographing every detail of your day. My absolute favorite part is the couple portraits, the part of the day when it’s just the two of you enjoying each other and making memories on one of the best days of your life. Getting to pause in time moments that you will come back to for years to come.

For every one of my photography focuses, I put myself in my client’s shoes to capture each person in a way that they feel most beautiful and I take this into account through the whole process.

For weddings, I love to have a longer conversation with you on the phone or in person over coffee to get more of the details of your day and help you walk through your potential photography timeline. This way we can plan how to capture all the most important moments in the way you are envisioning! We can also make sure that I am the right fit for you through these conversations!

About a month before your day, I send out a more detailed questionnaire to finalize details and make sure everything is in order!

Some fun facts about me: I lived in Spain for three months when I was 18 as an au pair, I am the oldest of five, and at one point I had a hedgehog named Clara Hedgewald ( Any Dr Who nerds out there?)
